Somewhere on Collins Avenue, a hotel’s W may be about to turn into a Y. According to city documents as reported by GTAVice, a real Miami Beach hotel would borrow the look of GTA 6’s Y Hotel, and a pink “Vice Beach” sign would rise in Lummus Park, with an opening planned for November 1. The paperwork also contains a way out, so none of it is guaranteed.

Reported, not official: per GTAVice, the documents come from the City of Miami Beach, and Rockstar has said nothing about them that we could find as of October 28. Official: launch is November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Beebom, Kami-labs and Gameranx all cover the story, but they do not give you three confirmations, as the next section explains.

Three Outlets, One Origin

GTAVice’s October 21 report credits iGrandTheftAuto with finding a sponsorship agreement, dated October 15, in the City Clerk’s public records, and its October 22 follow-up describes further city documents. Gameranx (October 21) links to GTAVice, and Beebom (October 23) cites GTAVice’s report. Kami-labs (October 23) says it could not open GTAVice, and its Y Hotel figures appear to come from Beebom.

That does not make the documents false, since city records are a solid start. It means that, as far as we can see, there is one origin, read by several outlets. We have not seen the documents, only GTAVice’s description. Gameranx has numbers GTAVice lacks, and we do not know whether it read the documents itself. We found no second independent report, such as local Miami coverage, and no statement from Rockstar, Take-Two or the city.

What the Y Hotel Would Change

According to GTAVice, the W South Beach at 2201 Collins Avenue would become the Y Hotel under a $650,000 agreement that Rockstar’s marketing agency, Amplify Marketing, signed with the owner. GTAVice splits it into $300,000 for facade signage, $150,000 for the Y logo and $200,000 for a beachfront activation, with a campaign running from October 15 to December 31.

GTAVice adds a caveat: the listed amounts are the contract values assigned to each piece if city approval is refused, not what each piece costs to build. Per GTAVice, subject to approval, visible changes would be a large banner and a stylised Y sculpture in place of the W emblem on the spa terrace, plus branded beach ice buckets and cups. Nothing we read mentions rooms, so we will not imply guests could check into Vice City.

A Pink Sign and a Short Clock

The documents describe the Vice Beach sign at 1130 Ocean Drive in Lummus Park, with work starting October 26 and an unveiling planned for November 1, per Beebom and GTAVice. Muscle Beach’s outdoor workout equipment would be painted pink, per Beebom. The November 1 unveiling is a plan and the October 26 start has passed; as of October 28 we found no report that work has begun.

Gameranx puts the wider deal near $5 million, including $4 million for beach operator Boucher Brothers, and says no permit had been approved as of October 15. Without approval by November 1, it writes, the plans might be cancelled. GTAVice describes a different exit: Rockstar could terminate by notice until November 5, or go ahead with only the permitted pieces. The totals differ, perhaps because they count different slices; treat each as provisional.

What a City Lending Its Beach Would Mean

Our inference: if even part of this happens, it would be a strange kind of homecoming. Vice City borrowed Miami’s light, its pastels and its beachfront, and now Miami would lend a hotel facade and a patch of park back. Per GTAVice, it is temporary, with the sign slated for removal between January 1 and 15, 2027. For about two months, a place and a game would share one name.

Through November 5 at least, the plan can still change, the termination window GTAVice reports, and one permit decision could make this article out of date, so hold it lightly. The Heat game and the Brooklyn mural sit in our piece on Vice City leaking into the real world, linked above. If the sign does go up, the photos taken beside it will show a place that, until now, mostly lived on screens.

If a real beach lent one corner to Vice City for two months, where would you stand to see it?
