A gator in sunglasses is not what most fans pictured on a GTA 6 collector’s box, and yet here he is. Macca the Gator fronts “The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection,” which does not include the game. The box already got a paragraph in our Vice City piece, so this one is about the gator and the fans who have opinions about him.

Same rules as always: official is what Rockstar wrote, reported is what outlets say, and rumor is what someone heard from someone. Sources get names and dates, and the gator’s backstory stays unwritten until Rockstar writes it; we will not do that for them. The headline question gets two labeled answers below: Creative Bloq’s reading and ours.

Who Is Macca the Gator? What Rockstar’s Store Says

Officially, Rockstar announced the box on September 24, 2026, as a pre-order while supplies last at $399.99 in the US. Its store lists 11 items, from a figure of Macca and Oakley sunglasses to a New Era cap and a double-sided Leonida map poster. Rockstar says the collection is inspired by Leonida’s TV show, Macca the Gator. The game is sold separately, and the box arrives November 19, launch day.

So who is he? According to the description on Rockstar’s own store page, the figure shows Macca “enjoying a smoke and a flamingo blood martini,” the show is a hit, and the poster features characters from it. In Rockstar’s official image above, the gator on the tee and mural is pink with purple sunglasses, our own observation. What the show is about, Rockstar has not said, and we will not guess.

Why a Gator? Two Readings

Creative Bloq (Ian Dean, September 25) reads Rockstar’s silence about the show as intentional; that is the outlet’s reading, and ours comes later. In his view the box works because everything in it belongs to a place you cannot visit, so it sells Leonida rather than a game. In our view, that sets it apart from collector’s editions, which usually celebrate the game.

Not everyone bought it. Notebookcheck, also on September 25, wrote that some fans were puzzled by the choice and that many would have preferred a small statue of Lucia and Jason. Fair point. Our own reading, labeled as opinion: Jason and Lucia carry the story, Macca carries the mood. A statue of the couple would sell a plot Rockstar is still holding back, while a gator in sunglasses sells the mood and spoils nothing.

The Fans Had Opinions, and Some Brought a 3D Printer

Reportedly, the reaction on r/GTA6 was largely negative, according to Notebookcheck. The top comment questioned the price, another called the contents cheap and tacky, and the biggest complaint was that a nearly $400 box leaves out the game. The Oakley sunglasses and New Era cap fared somewhat better, per Notebookcheck; our guess is that real brands travel better than Leonida’s. Rockstar has not explained why the game is not inside.

Then came the hobbyists. Dexerto reported on September 25 that fans started 3D printing their own Macca within hours of the reveal. That is a fan project, not a Rockstar product, and the outlet notes the official six-inch figure has a stash compartment a copy may not match. Pay for the box or print a gator, you are still a fan, and we are not here to judge.

Rockstar has shown us his merch, not his show.

What the Gator Says About Leonida, and Whether You Can Buy One

To us, the gator is the tour guide of a place Rockstar has spent years filling with fake brands and TV shows, and now one of them has a price tag. A far cheaper way to own him is the Macca tee, which Rockstar’s store listed at $29.99 when it launched on October 8, per Beebom and GTABoom. It gives you the gator without the rest of the box.

If you want one, Rockstar’s US store opened the box as a pre-order while supplies last at $399.99, and we could not confirm current stock as of October 25. In Australia, EB Games reportedly sold out almost at once (iXBT, crediting Press Start Australia, September 28). We found no confirmation that Brazil or Mexico can buy it yet; Techtudo (September 24) said Brazil was left out of the initial pre-order. Check the official store before trusting resale.

Which would you rather see on your shelf: the gator or a statue of Jason and Lucia?
