It was the launch trailer: 90 seconds captured in the game itself on PS5, according to Notebookcheck and LevelUp. At the end, Lucia asks something like “Are we going to be okay?” (paraphrased, per Notebookcheck) and Jason answers. With the date this close, anyone could be asking the same question. We already asked ourselves that.
The Extended Look at GTA 6 premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026: it ran 7 minutes and went live at 1:00 p.m. Central Mexico time, according to TV Azteca. “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice plays in the launch trailer, per LevelUp. Between one trailer and the next come long gaps: you check your phone constantly, you open the store for no reason, and the controller feels different in your hands.
Less than a month is no time at all and an eternity at once.
The Meme That Measures the Wait: “We got X before GTA 6”
The “We got X before GTA 6” format was born in the summer of 2023 on TikTok and Reddit. According to Know Your Meme, the first notable example appeared on July 27, 2023, when a TikTok user posted a version with “aliens before GTA 6.” The joke is to name something improbable, however absurd it may be, and claim it happened before GTA 6 went on sale.
A 2023 joke that treated GTA 6 as something that would never arrive takes on a different meaning now that the game has a date on the calendar, more than three years later. The humor changed tone. What once sounded like resignation now works as a countdown with a sense of humor: every “before GTA 6” edges closer to “after GTA 6.” The format even crossed over with the joke about running GTA 6 on a potato.
Last-Minute Rituals: Pre-Load, Pre-Order and a Charged Controller
GTA 6 pre-load opens on November 12, 2026, according to Vandal, which reported it on June 24. That date applies to both the digital and the physical version. The boxed edition has no disc, only a code to redeem, per Vandal, Infobae, Xataka México, Push Square and VGC, reported in June. Per those reports, anyone who bought the boxed edition also needs the code to install the game.
GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, at 00:00 local time. Xataka México and Infobae reported prices in Mexico of between $1,499 and $1,799 Mexican pesos (MXN) depending on the store and the format; they may have changed since. Confirm the current price with your trusted store, because the final figure depends on where and in what format you buy.
The last-minute rituals are small and almost domestic: freeing up space on the console for the install, getting everything charged, checking that your account and payment method work in the store. They are tiny gestures that turn nerves into a to-do list, and, oddly enough, that list calms just about everyone down before the big day. Small, yes, but welcome.
The Night Before the 19th: What Time Can You Play in Mexico?
Rockstar has not confirmed the exact launch time for GTA 6. According to community estimates, still unconfirmed by Rockstar, the game would open at 00:00 local time in each zone. Gfinity and Culturageek (September 8) discussed it, citing PlayStation Store timestamps and a fan-made clock. If that estimate holds, in Mexico it would be midnight between the 18th and the 19th, Central Mexico time.
If launch works on local time, each region would open at a different moment in real-world time, and there would be no single hour for everyone. That night would be a community vigil: people awake, watching the clock and sharing the countdown as a group. The sensible move is to follow the official channels of Rockstar and of your store. We will update this article when Rockstar confirms the time.

Beware the Hype: Scams That Prey on the Excitement
GTA 6 scams are concentrated around pre-orders and so-called early access. The schemes include fake betas, fake “GTA 6 Beta” apps for Android, Rockstar Social Club phishing and fake coupons (Malwarebytes, June 2026; NordVPN via UnoTV, May 27; TV Azteca; Publimetro, July 16). They all bet on the same thing: the rush of someone who wants to play right now.
The advice those sources keep repeating is to buy only from official stores. Be wary of anyone offering you a beta, and be just as wary of any coupon that arrives by message or on social media. Scammers are targeting exactly the excitement of these weeks. Before you tap a link, take a few seconds to pause and think it over. No beta is worth that risk.
