Leonida is not one city. It is a whole state, and the map of GTA 6 will stretch from neon beaches to swamps, farmland and forest. Rockstar has now said how big it is: nearly as large, in total landmass, as the playable maps of GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined. Everything else is still partly a puzzle, so here is what is solid and what is not.
Official: launch is November 19. Reported, Edge’s own estimate: roughly twice the size of GTA V. We label each region by where it comes from, and our map pins are approximate, because we found no full map published by Rockstar. You can follow along on our interactive map.
How Big Is It, Really?
Official, via Edge’s late-October cover story: Rockstar says the total landmass, including Vice City and the surrounding areas, is nearly as large as the playable maps of GTA IV, GTA V and RDR2 combined. Edge adds, in its own voice, that the map is roughly twice the size of GTA V’s. We found no figure in miles or kilometers from Rockstar, so treat these as comparisons, not measurements.
Edge also warns that acreage is an increasingly blunt measure of an open world’s ambition, and Rockstar’s own changes point the same way: roads are narrower than GTA V’s, at what Rob Nelson calls a more believable size, and the day-night cycle is longer than GTA V’s. Our reading: a map this large can feel smaller or bigger depending on how it is filled, so size alone says little about the hours of play.
The Six Regions on Our Map
Official, per Rockstar’s material as logged on our map: Vice City is the big city, inspired by Miami. The Leonida Keys are an island chain linked to the mainland by an overseas highway, inspired by the Florida Keys. Grassrivers is wetland with airboats and gators, Leonida’s take on the Everglades, introduced in the official Trailer 2 material.
Also official: Port Gellhorn, a port town in the northwest, inspired by the Florida Panhandle; Ambrosia, farming country with a sugar refinery; and Mount Kalaga National Park, wild country in the north. We could read only the Vice City text on Rockstar’s own page, which loads by JavaScript, so the other descriptions come from the material our pins cite.

What Nobody Has Shown Yet
Not confirmed: the exact size in distance, how the six regions connect by road, how long it takes to cross the state, and where most missions begin. Trailer locations such as the beaches or the gator store sit on our map as approximate points, and mission pins stay empty until launch. We found no full map from Rockstar, so any “full map” circulating now did not come from the studio.
Our inference: since Rockstar compares total landmass, not the part you can freely drive, the “combined” claim says more about ambition than about driving time. The real test comes on launch day, when the first long drive from the Keys to the north shows whether the distance is variety or empty road. Until then, every number is a promise.
Plan Your First Drive
Our map marks each place by status: official, shown in trailers, or pending. It also filters by type and adds a layer for real-world places that echo Leonida. After November 19 the pending pins become confirmed missions, collectibles and secrets. If you open it once before launch, look for the region you want to visit first.
Some will chase the neon of Vice City, others the quiet of Ambrosia’s fields, or the airboats of Grassrivers. A map this big is an invitation to get lost, and nobody has done that yet. In two weeks, everyone will do it for the first time, and every road will be new. That first wrong turn may become the story you tell for years.
Which corner of Leonida will you drive to first?
