Your Digital GTA 6 Pre-Order Comes With a Free Month. What Is the Catch?

Some pre-order bonuses arrive as a skin. This one arrives as a subscription. Buy GTA 6 digitally on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and you are offered one free month of GTA+, Rockstar’s membership for GTA Online, with a catch that costs nothing if you remember it and a monthly charge if you forget. The calendar matters more than the perk.
Official: launch is November 19, and the offer covers digital purchases made on or before that date. We read Sony’s terms directly. Rockstar’s own support page timed out for us, so what we cite from it comes through search excerpts. Reported means it comes from an outlet such as Gfinity, which wrote about it in June. Our opinions are labeled.
What Is Actually Promised
Official, per Sony: buyers of the digital Standard or Ultimate Edition who pre-order or buy on or before November 19, 2026 get one month of GTA+ at no extra cost. Per Rockstar’s wording, as quoted in search excerpts, physical copies do not qualify. Sony adds that upgrading to the Ultimate Edition does not qualify. The offer allows one redemption per account and cannot be transferred.
Reported by Gfinity in June, not part of the terms: GTA+ pays GTA$500,000 a month into your Maze Bank account and adds Shark Cards with a 15 percent bonus, plus apparel and liveries. Those are GTA Online rewards, and nothing we read says the month does anything inside GTA 6 itself. Our inference: this is a gift for the Online game you may already play, not a launch-day extra.
How and Where to Claim It
Official, per Sony: after you buy, a confirmation email arrives with redemption steps. You then open the GTA+ product page on PlayStation Store and follow the screens, which show when the paid subscription would begin. Sony sets March 31, 2027 as the last day to redeem, which leaves room to wait, in our view. It works in most PlayStation stores; Sony lists a few exceptions, among them China and Russia.
On Xbox, per Rockstar’s article as excerpted in search results, you redeem in the Offers & Credits section of the Microsoft Store within 180 days of purchase. The same wording says refunding the game and buying it again does not earn a second free month. On PlayStation, existing subscribers can add the month, Sony says, but it warns that stacking is usually unsupported on PlayStation Store, so check your account after claiming.
Buy digitally by: November 19 (official). Claim on PlayStation by: March 31, 2027 (official). Claim on Xbox within: 180 days of purchase (per Rockstar’s wording).

The Catch Is Auto-Renewal
Official, per Sony: after the free month, membership continues monthly at the regular price until you cancel, and to avoid the charge you cancel in Subscriptions Management before the next payment date. We do not name a price here because no official source we read states one. The claim screen shows when the paid subscription begins.
A practical note, ours and not Rockstar’s: treat the claim as a small task with two dates, not a free pass. Claim when you will actually log in to GTA Online, then set a reminder a few days before the month ends to decide whether to keep it or cancel. Check on the platform screen what cancelling early does to your free month.
A Gift That Comes With a Calendar
Our reading: nothing about this offer is complicated, and that is why it is easy to lose. Pre-order, claim, enjoy, cancel: four small steps scattered across months, between a pre-load that fills your console and a launch day that empties your week. The free month asks for one modest habit in the middle of the busiest stretch of the whole wait.
If you already pay for GTA+, it is a bonus on top of your routine, once you check Sony’s stacking warning. If you have never touched GTA Online, it is a month to wander through the game that came before the one you are waiting for. Either way, the date to remember is the one nobody puts on a poster: the day the free month ends.
